OPTOEDGE – The Optical Sensing Edge

Optical TechnologyThe OPTOEDGE is comprised of an infrared light beam enclosed in a hollow rubber profile. When the rubber profile is compressed, the signal is interrupted, causing the operator to reverse the door. Since the infrared light beam is reflected by the surface of the rubber profile, operation of the sensing edge is not affected by wind load bending. Compression of the optical channel, on the other hand, attenuates the light and the safety edge switches off reliably.
Cut-To-LengthThe cut to length technology eliminates wasted time and money of improperly measured or manufactured edges. The installation process is as simple as stocking a roll of rubber profile, cutting it to length on site, and plugging in the optical sensors. The instant installation keeps customers satisfied while reducing downtime during the retrofitting process. State of the art OPTOEDGE waterproof sensors eliminate the need for glue during the installation process.
Works When RippedThe NEMA4x rated sensors make the entire edge practically waterproof. Because the sensors are unaffected by water, dirt, dust, or grime the OPTOEDGE works even when the rugged rubber profile is ripped or torn. Damaged rubber profiles do not significantly impair function. Tough plastic bumpers provided in the installation kit protect the optical sensors from damage meaning that even if the rubber profile is completely destroyed, sensors can be unplugged and reinstalled in a new rubber profile saving time and money.
Industrial DesignThe OPTOEDGE is a robust sensing edge consisting of NEMA6 protected optoelectronic sensors and a rubber weather-seal, made of durable EPDM material. It’s tough design and highly durable material composition makes it ideal for commercial and industrial settings.
